If I could travel far beyond the
Galaxies of stars
If I could soar on wings of love, or chariots
Of fire
I’d come to you, my dearest friend, and
Lover of my soul
I’d hold you fiercely in my arms
And never let you go!
I’d feel the beat of your strong heart
That broke and bled for me.
I’d touch my fingers to your tears
And hold you tenderly.
I would kiss your nail-scarred hands
And wash your wounded feet
Caress the welts upon your back
That you have borne for me.
Oh if I had the chance to run
Into your arms and rest
I’d draw your strength into
My limbs and together we
Would dance.
Along the golden avenues that you’ve
Prepared for me
We linger beneath the tree of life
And admire the crystal sea
Oh Jesus, lover of my soul
And keeper of my faith
My love for you has multiplied
On the darkest of my days
You light the candle of my love
And kindle hope and grace
Consuming fire, oh purest dove
How I long to see your face.
good poem
Hi Linda,
Found you while looking for an example of an ‘ode’ to share with my homeschooling son, Joshua. I wanted to find an ode to Jesus; and yours came up first in my search. Thanks for your contribution to our studies… So beautiful, your poem.
